15 chalets for between 4 and 22 guests
The Resort
We’ve all heard of Courchevel:
an exclusive resort full of Russians and A-listers, right? Not entirely. The North-facing slopes of Courchevel are a haven for well-kept snow and short lift queues – and according to the Tourist Office, the Russian market is only 7% of the total visitors to resort! The resort is much prettier than it used to be and it scores very highly in the skiing and atmosphere departments. Courchevel is part of the famous, gargantuan ski area ‘Les Trois Vallées’ which includes Méribel and Val Thorens. It’s actually made up of four distinct resorts at different altitudes: 1850: home of the oligarchs and celebs, 1650 (‘Moriond’): for real people, 1550: for boarders and Le Praz: for French. All are great for people-watching, and have a selection of shops, bars and restaurants.
Le Ski’s 15 chalets in Courchevel are all in 1650, which is located at the very Eastern spiral arm of the Three Valleys. 1650 is a quiet area with wide, intermediate runs, fabulous tree-lined pistes and very few lift queues.
The Skiing
Courchevel has all things for all skiers.Beginners can find their feet on the free nursery slopes, graduating to the various bubble lifts to get a bit higher once they progress to the wide blues. Intermediates of all levels will enjoy the flattering skiing on cruisy blues and reds, and venturing further afield, it’s possible to ski to Méribel on blue runs. There’s also plenty to keep adventurous skiers occupied in the Three Valleys – a whopping 600km of pistes in total. We promise you won’t get bored! If steep and deep is more your thing, then Courchevel can offer that too – we recommend skiing with a mountain guide who will be able to show you the best off-piste areas. Red-run skiers are welcome to join our free Ski Guiding service from Courchevel, which takes in all the best runs around the whole Three Valleys during the week.
The Chalets
Le Ski have 15 chalets here. All of them have ensuite or private bathrooms, with 10 offering a steam room, sauna, hot tub or endless pool. Top of the list in our programme this year are the five chalets in our stunning brand new ‘Scalottas Lodge’ contemporary style and all have access property. They’re beautifully finished in to a spa area with hot tub and endless pool. We’re VERY excited about them and so are the ski press! There is a great range of chalets with us in Courchevel and, of course, you get the same great Le Ski service in every one of our chalets. Our chalets here sleep between four and 22, some even with popular single rooms with no sole occupancy charge. Most chalets also have balconies from which to appreciate the stunning views up and around the Courchevel valley.
The Rest
For the active non-skier, there’s much to keep you occupied in Courchevel: Paragliding on the Le Ski parapente, snow-shoeing through the beautiful wooded areas or sky-diving from a tiny plane that flies out of the famous Altiport above 1850. For those who prefer diversions of a more floorbased nature, there are plenty of shopping options at all levels of the resort. If you’re having a day off the slopes then you could try ice-skating or bowling. Or get us to organise a spot of pampering in one of the smart hotels – why not ask the masseuse to come to your chalet for the ultimate convenient luxury.
